  5. I started reading Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson,so far in the novel Lonnie the main charactor is writing about poems about how his mother and father dies in a fire and how he is getting through. He was day dreaming about how he was holding his little sister and she was looking out the window and smiling at the birds and yelling a playful yell and the mother freaked out and thought that Lonnie drpped her or somthing and when she got in the room she saw that he did not drop her and she was relived and then Lonnie said to her am i still your baby. Soon after the day dream stopped Edna who he is staying with now shows him her house so he can stay with her. What i like in the begging of the novel is how it starts by him saying how his thoughts are jumbled by putting it in a poem in the first page of the book. He does n

  7. I started reading Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson.
So far the novel is fantastic I love it and i'm glad i'm reading it.
I like in the beginning is how he tells you in detail why the whole book is in poem form and why its the whole book is a poem.
What I found confusing is the way the kid writes his grammar is very poor so sometimes I have to go back and read it the same sentence over.
One question's that I have is how did his parents die?
But that's all the questions I have so far.

  8. Today I started reading the book "Whirligig" by Paul Fleischman. So far in the novel the main character Brent had been introduced. He was going to a party with his friend. He felt out of place when they got there because he wasn't dressed lik the others there, and he didn't like the host named Chaz. Brent was glad to be at the party only because Brianna, a girl he likes was there. As soon as he tried to talk to her she told him to go away and take a hint that she isn't interested in him. Then he leaves the party, but then he gets lost as he's trying to get home. Brent then starts thinking about ending his life and getting into a car crash. I like how the book begins with Brent who is anxious about going to the party and how he keeps looking at the time on his clock. I'm confused on why he stayed at the party when he was already wanting to leave anyway. I wonder why Brianna was saying those things to Brent.

1 Brent is a junior in high school and he is impatiently watched the time pass so he could go to a party

  14. I started reading Buddha Boy by Kathe Koja . So far in the novel we pick up in a day of school with Justin talking about how the school is a prison. The book begins with him explaining where he and his friends in the totem poll of the school. I find confusing that the kids who cause all of the trouble never get in trouble like McManus and Magnur. I wonder if Justin will ever do anything about the way McManus treats Micheal aka Buddha Boy.

  17. I started reading Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson. The book started with the main character, Lonnie, telling how the while book is a poem, because every time he tries to write the whole story his mind tells him to "be quiet". I was confused by Ms. Edna's character, because it didn't really describe who she was it just said her name, I found out that she is Lonnie's foster mom. I wonder when Lonnie's parents were killed and when him and his sister were separated

  20. I started reading "Buddha Boy" by Kathe Koja. So far in the novel, I like the character Justin and how he deals with "Buddha Boy". The book begins with picturing "Buddha Boy" in his head, and how he laughed at being called a lint ball. Justin couldn't figure out why he was so happy all the time. What I found confusing about the book is how McManus and Magnur didn't get in trouble what so ever for holding down David Pink under the water in the pool and said they were just "playing around". A question I have are what exactly the "Temple" is. "Buddha Boy" says he stopped there before coming home to work on their project.

  22. I started reading Whirligig by Paul Fleischman. So far in the novel, The book beings when he seems like a rich preppy boy and gets whatever he wants but he is the exact opposite and works for the things he wants unlike his "friends". I was confused by when the crash happened but he didn't really mention the girl he killed or I didn't see that part and skimmed over it. I wonder why Brianna acted that way? Like all he did was try talking and you humiliated him. I don't know if it was because she was popular, if she liked Chaz or if she just wanted to cause a scene. I don't understand why she could just do that to someone and act like nothing happened after.

  23. Today I started reading Buddha Boy by Kathe Koja. I like how the chapters each begin with a kind of thought or preliminary idea or statement. I find the way he thinks confusing, because he talks about his friends, but yet he's afraid to act the wrong way around them, to be himself;that just doesn't seem like they're good friends if he's afraid they'll judge him. I want to know about Jinsen's family, and how he grew up, why he is the way he is.

  24. I started reading Whirligig by Paul Fleischman. The book begins with a teenage boy that had recently moved to Chicago his Junior year of school. He's trying to fit in with everybody around him. The boy, Brent, had been planning to go to a party. He had a sick, nervous feeling in his gut about going hours before. He should've listened. Not knowing the consequences of what could happened if he did go. He went to go pick up somebody he claimed to be his friend who was also friends with the person who was hosting the party. Brent wasn't invited, but since Jonathan, his friend he picked up, was saying that it was cool because he's friends Jonathan and Jonathan is friends with the person who was having the party that he wouldn't mind Brent coming. Chaz was the person who was hosting the party. When they first got there, they walked right in and heading to the back patio. Everybody was dressed in black and white, as though there was a dress code. Chaz quickly confronted him.

  26. I started reading Buddha Boy by Kathe Koja. So far in the novel the book began by talking a kid named Jinsen who's kind of weird. I like how the book begins because it brings you to the problem or the main thing that the story is focused about. I was confused by if the person who was talking was a boy or a girl. I'm still wondering about where Jinsen is from and whats he doing at that high school.

  28. I started reading Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson. so far in the navel I read about a boy named Lonnie Collins and he tell his story by writing it with poems. I like when the book begins because he talks about himself and how his not a loud person. I found the book confusing in the beginning when he talks about something and then he changes the subject. I have a question from the beginning he talks about if maybe he was twelve years old. and he also go back to time and it gives me an idea if his like old now.

  29. I started reading locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson. There's this boy and he lost his parents in a fire and he writes poems about what hes thinking and to help him with what hes been going thru. Miss. Edna always told him to be quiet and he always forgot what he was thinking. I like how this book begins i kinda get right to the story. its kinda new because its a poem and its just gets right to the story theirs no long story leading to a certain point. I wasn't confused about any thing i miss read some stuff but I went back and read it and it made sense. I don't have any questions right now but i will be having some when I get a little farther into the book.

  32. I started reading "Buddha Boy" by Kathe Koja. So far in the novel there is a boy named Justin and he is going to Edward Rucher High. Where mainly everyone is trying to be in the popular society chain groups. Justin is in the middle of the popular society chain groups and how he stayed there is by a kid name Jinsen. Then when Justin was having lunch there was a a kid that has his hair shaved a is wearing a sloppy old T-shirt as a sail. I was confused by how the shaved headed kid was acting like a monk, does that mean his parents are monks or Buddhist. I wonder what the character with the shaved head was thinking when he said he was acting like a monk.

  38. I am writing for my reader response. The topic I chose is A application, the question is what would happen if the main character coudn't talk. The story woudnt really change a lot because the story is just poems of his life. He probably would write poems about him not being able to speak and wanting to. He also would explain about how hard it is.
